Babymetal Postpones Release of Upcoming Album Metal Forth to June 27: Here’s Everything You Need to Know

Japan’s genre-bending queens of kawaii metal, Babymetal, have officially delayed the release of their much-anticipated new album Metal Forth. Originally set to drop on June 13, the trio announced on April 23 via social media that fans will now have to wait until June 27 to get their hands on the full record. The project will be released worldwide via Capitol Records.

In an official statement, Babymetal explained that the two-week delay was necessary to synchronize their international and domestic release schedules. “Due to changes in the overseas release date, the domestic release date has also been changed from 2025.6.13 (Fri) to 2025.6.27 (Fri),” the band noted, assuring fans that the decision was made to better align global launch efforts.

Metal Forth marks the follow-up to Babymetal’s 2023 album The Other One, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the group’s most ambitious efforts to date. Initially announced on March 31, the album boasts an impressive roster of collaborations spanning the globe’s heavy music scene. Among the featured artists are alt-pop disruptor Poppy, metalcore titans Spiritbox, instrumental wizards Polyphia, Indian nu-metal group Bloodywood, and deathcore powerhouse Slaughter To Prevail.

The album will also include some of Babymetal’s previously released genre-blending anthems, such as “Ratatata” with Electric Callboy and the explosive “Metali!!” featuring legendary Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello. Fans have already gotten a taste of the album with the release of “From Me To U,” a haunting, melodic single featuring Poppy that dropped on April 4.

One of the standout tracks to watch for is “Kon! Kon!,” Babymetal’s second collaboration with Bloodywood. Their first joint effort, “Bekhauf,” released in December 2024, was a hard-hitting fusion of Eastern metal and modern groove, and was later featured on Bloodywood’s sophomore album Nu Delhi.

Metal Forth will also deepen Babymetal’s ongoing relationship with Texas-based progressive metal band Polyphia. The two groups previously joined forces on stage in June 2024 at Tokyo’s iconic Saitama Super Arena for a live performance of “Brand New Day.” Polyphia guitarist Tim Henson has since revealed that the band has two new collaborations with Babymetal in the works—one of which, “Sunset Kiss,” will appear on Metal Forth, while another is slated to be featured on Polyphia’s forthcoming record.

Adding to the significance of this release, Metal Forth will serve as the first full-length Babymetal album to feature new official member Momometal. After several years performing as a backup dancer and vocalist, she was formally inducted into the group in 2023, stepping in to complete the trio after the departure of Yuimetal in 2018. Since then, Babymetal had continued as a two-piece, until Momometal’s promotion restored the group to its original trio format.

As anticipation builds for Metal Forth, Babymetal is gearing up for a major 2025 European tour. Kicking off on May 10 in Brussels, the tour will take the group across some of Europe’s biggest cities and arenas, including stops in Hamburg, Amsterdam, Berlin, Zurich, Madrid, Paris, and London. These live performances promise to showcase the new lineup, new material, and the high-energy spectacle fans around the world have come to expect from Babymetal.

While the album delay may come as a disappointment to some, the extended wait promises to be worth it. With a genre-defying sound, powerhouse collaborations, and a fresh chapter for the group, Metal Forth is shaping up to be one of the most exciting releases in Babymetal’s already groundbreaking career.
